Weekend at Panther Lake
Hey everyone, just a quick post to say how excited I am for the weekend to get here! My beautiful wife and I are heading down to our Lake Cabin this weekend, which means I get to do some Bass Fishing! It’s been over a week since the last time I was out there, and while I have a lot of work to do at the ole cabin, there should be plenty of time to get some quality fishing in as well! Just a quick preview of the plan of attack for those of you who are interested. I’m expecting the conditions to be a little nasty, quite frankly!
The Weather man says….
Weather is calling for plenty of rain, and temperatures around 60 – 65 degrees. This means we have a nice front moving in and the temperatures are going to be dropping like a rock! For those of you tried and true fisherman, you’ll know that this isn’t always the most conducive to catching a big bag of fish, but I’ve got alot of confidence in what I throw this time of year, so I’m still feeling pretty good about it, all things considered!
So Here’s the plan…..
My plan will be to start out shallow in about 3-5 feet, fishing some topwater, likely with a Chartreuse Shad Lucky Craft Sammy, followed up with my trusty 3/8 oz black and blue Strike King Hack Attack jig, and for the lighter stuff, I’m going to make sure I soak a weightless senko! If the fish are active, then I’m going to be throwing a jerkbait on some lighter spinning gear as well, just because that’s something I really enjoy doing! In my opinion you just can’t beat a Lucky Craft Pointer 78, I prefer the original, but the DD (deep diver) version is great as well! I throw this on light or medium light action spinning gear with 8 lb test flourocarbon. Give it try!Oh and I almost forgot, although there isn’t alot of vegetation on my lake, there is a ton of wood cover, and this weekend I plan to rig up a relatively light punch rig, and see if I can’t show em something a little different! This lake has a ton and I mean TON of bluegill in it, so I’m always trying to “match the hatch” with colors and profiles, so I’ll have lots of greens, blues, and some yellow and orange accents on whatever I throw!
One bait that is definitely on my short term shopping list is the LiveTarget Bluegill swimbait! Man that thing looks so awesome, and I’m telling you, it’s an exact replica of the bluegill we have in our lake, so I know it’s going to work!
Well, wish me luck and I’ll be sure to report back on how well the actual outing resembled the gameplan! You know what they say about the best laid plans and all…. 🙂
Hey by the way, just a quick reminder, if you haven’t taken advantage of the great pure fishing offers I’ve outlined in my previous post, time is definitely running out!!! Don’t miss out, and hope to see you on the water!
Stay tuned:
Oh yeah, and one last thing, look for a review of Ted’s Woodworking program, from me in the coming weeks! I’ve just signed up for and received a ton of great information, and I can’t wait to check out some of the cool plans! I’ve just added a new page to the site with links to his incredible offer, so if you’re into woodworking, or just want to advance your skills, like I do, be sure to check it out! I’ve got a cool project in store for my wife, and I’ll be excited to share it once I’m done!
Tight Lines!
